Grant Funding to Support Mercy Health Clinic

Mercy Health Clinic is proud to announce a generous grant from The Alavi Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports educational, humanitarian and community programs around the world. This critical funding will enable our clinic to replace aging equipment and purchase new equipment that will expand and enhance the specialty care options for low-income patients we serve. Mercy Health Clinic is extremely grateful for The Alavi Foundation’s generous support of our mission as a not-for-profit primary health care provider dedicated to serving the medically underserved, low-income residents of Montgomery County, Maryland.

The Foundation’s financial contributions support our provision of much-needed primary medical care, health educational and pharmaceuticals for community members who might otherwise not be able to receive health care at all. With generous support from the community, we continue to offer our services free of charge to the patient! Mercy was founded as an all-volunteer health clinic providing services for people who had no affordable access to healthcare. As we have grown and expanded to include a small and dedicated paid staff, Mercy still relies on volunteer and community support and could not continue to provide these services free of charge without support from generous partners such as the Alavi
Foundation.

Because of ongoing community support, our patients benefit from free access to primary preventative care, diagnosis and treatment of general acute and chronic medical problems, diabetes and nutrition education, and numerous specialty clinics including cardiology, endocrinology, gynecology, psychiatry and many more. Mercy Health Clinic patients are provided both prescription and over-the-counter medications free of charge from our on-site pharmacy, a crucial step to ensuring increased patient compliance. Funding to support equipment purchases and replacements such as this generous grant from the Alavi Foundation ensures that we can continue to not only provide high quality healthcare, but also medications, free of charge and continue to ensure access to care for our most vulnerable neighbors. The Alavi Foundation joins a long list of prestigious partners invested in our community’s future from major medical corporations to top universities to prominent local government agencies.
