Grant Programs

The Alavi Foundation is a private not-for-profit organization devoted to the promotion and support of Islamic culture and Persian language, literature and civilization. Since our inception in 1973, we have been an independent charitable organization based in the United States. The Alavi Foundation has been promoting projects for over 32 years by financially supporting charitable and philanthropic causes through educational, religious, and cultural programs.

We strive to meet our mission through 9 core program areas:

• Donations to Persian Schools
• Donations and Loans to Islamic Organizations
• Free Distribution of Islamic Books
• Donations for Disaster Relief Funds
• Support for the Arts
• Scholarly Research
• Interfaith Dialogue and Religious Pluralism
• Student Loans

 

COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES
Grant Applicants must: Establish a six-year matching funds program (preferably a tenure track position) Submit quarterly progress reports to Alavi Foundation Fully comply with terms and conditions set by Alavi Foundation in a prepared contract signed by both parties Alavi Foundation grants are renewed on a yearly basis and are dependent on positive progress reports. Generally, the Foundation's grants do not cover overhead expenses.

INTERFAITH DIALOGUE
Grant Applicants must:

• Submit a proposal to the Alavi Foundation
• Show the significance of the project in advancing the cause of religious pluralism and interfaith dialogue

PERSIAN SCHOOLS
Grant Applicants must:

• Be a not-for-profit corporation organized and in good standing under the laws of the state of incorporation
• Provide a copy of permanent tax-exempt status letter from the IRS
• Make financial records available upon request
• Manage and operate the school in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations
• Have a minimum enrollment of 15 students
